- Preheat oven to 180 degC. Beat butter and sugar until pale and creamy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Mix in vanilla extract and fold through self raising flour and baking powder. Gently mix in the milk.
- Place spoonfuls of mixture into regular cupcake cases and bake for 15 to 20 minutes until golden and firm to the touch. Allow to cool.
- To make vanilla icing/extract, mix together icing sugar, 25g butter and vanilla until smooth. Ice cakes and decorate with crystalised violets.
