Steak with buttermilk onion rings
- Peel onions and slice into 1cm thick rings. Place rings in a bowl and cover with buttermilk. Refrigerate for 30 minutes.
- Lift rings from buttermilk and dip into combined flour, chilli and salt.
- Heat 5cm of oil in a large saucepan and, when hot, cook onion rings in batches until just golden. Drain on paper towels.
- Meanwhile, cook steaks in a frying pan for 3 to 4 minutes each side over a high heat.
- Serve with onion rings.
