
Cheese rolls

Southern readers will recognise this delectable treat, while North Islanders might like to add it to their recipe books.
Ingredients
½ cup | Water, boiling |
1 packet | Onion soup mix, approx 30g |
1 splash | Red onion, finely chopped |
2½ cups | Grated cheese |
20 slices | White sandwich bread |
25 g | Butter |
Directions
- Place boiling water, onion soup, onion and grated cheese in a small saucepan and melt very gently over a low heat
- Spread cheese mixture on bread slices and roll tightly. Place rolls on a cold tray and dot with butter.
- Cook under a hot grill until golden, turning during cooking to get an even colour.
