Festive Fare: Doused cherries
Make these adults-only cherry treats now so they're ready in time for New Years.

- To make the syrup, bring 1 cup of caster sugar and 1 cup of water to a boil. Boil for 3 minutes then let cool.
- Place the cherries, vodka, brandy, cloves, allspice, cinnamon and syrup into a glass or ceramic container. Put on a tightly fitting lid or cover with plastic wrap.
- Let the cherries steep in a cool and dark place for at least two weeks or up to one month before either eating straight away or spooning into sterilised jars.
